I have loved horses since the day I could walk. It all started with a really naughty brown and white pony, “Tate”. I would brush him until his hair was shiny, and his thick wiry mane was untangled enough to braid. We would ride around a vacant field next to my uncles until Tate would lay down. That was his sign to get off. Did I mention my tack was fancy orange hay twine that I had braided together for a headstall, bit, and reins, with no saddle?
When I was fourteen, my dad brought me a hunting horse that he taught me to ride in the beautiful Colorado Rockies among the fresh smell of blue spruce and color of the golden aspens. Gray was his name, a flee bitten Appaloosa and Arabian, and I was hooked for life.
After I married in 1983, I still dreamed that someday I would have horses of my own. So, I have spent the last 37 years learning everything I could about horses. I learn something every day.
